Seeking Small Dog that Needs Amazing Home

I will start by saying that I do not have the ability to drive long distances, so I am looking locally. I recently lost my 2 Best Friends due to a backyard breeder who inbred. One died of Leukimia and the other had a major heart defect. Both were under 3 years old, and while the vet said it isnt neccessarly due to genetic issues associated with inbreeding, that didnt help and compromised their immune systems. I refuse to purchase another dog from a 'breeder' or Puppy Store and would love to full my grief stricken heart with a furry friend that needs a fantastic forever home. I own my home, have a pool, a fenced yard and excellent vet recommendations. I prefer males over females, but am not opposed to either gender. I am also willing to take pairs.
