Description

Hi, I'm Angel. I am a 2-year-old male neutered Lab, Australian Shepherd, Mini Ausi Mix, and I'm looking for a new home. Let me tell you my life story and see if you are the right companion for me. I was brought into my current home at 8 weeks old. I warmed up quickly to my new brother, Brownie, a Lab/Rottweiler, and we quickly became best buddies and play partners. My favorite game was to run away with the toy and play keep away from Brownie. Everything was going great until I got to be about a year-and-a-half old, when for some reason I decided to start guarding my resources, and guarding certain spaces. Once or twice I snapped at Brownie and bit him. I didn't break the skin, but I scared my family enough for them to separate us and put us on a crate-and-rotate schedule. I snapped at my human family a couple times two, when they tried to take away my bully stick. Dad had to take responsibility for feeding me and keeping me in his room to keep everyone safe. After a while my family decided to enroll me in a 5-week board and train program at "Lead me On" in Olympia to see if my behavior could be improved. I learned a lot there, but after coming home I still get agitated when Brownie is around. I will sometimes bare my teeth at him when he asks me to play, and I will bark really loud at him if he comes into my room. In spite of all the training I still can't get along with my brother, so it's time for me to look for a new home. I love my human family, and my food aggression / resource guarding habits have greatly improved with them. The 10 year old can feed me my dinner without a problem now, and take away my bowl without any issue. I know how to "sit", "lie down", "fetch" (but you might have to give me a treat if you want me to drop the toy). I can sit and wait/stay until you say "ok" (especially if you give me a treat). Did I mention I really like treats? I am very active and need daily exercise. I LOVE to play, but watch out for my mouth when I'm too excited I just might grab the toy right out of your hand! I'm especially attached to Dad and get separation anxiety whenever he is away. The vet prescribed me some anxiety meds and I just started taking them a few days ago, but it will take a few weeks to know for sure if it will help me chill out. I like to go to the park and walk, but I need a bit more experience to be calm when I'm out. I get a bit nervous and my hair stands up when another dog walks by, but I've never felt the need to be aggressive towards them. I just sniff and and move on. My dad is working with me on leash pulling because I get really excited and a bit nervous on walks. I use a special no-pull harness. I LOVE car rides. I would ride in the back of your car all day long! Thanks for taking the time to read my life story. If you are the right person I would love to be your buddy for a $150 adoption fee. My ideal home would have no other dogs in it, and no small children. My family would like to have a couple visits with you in a couple different settings to see how we get along to make sure I go to the right home.
