KINGS PARK, NY — Three men on a raft were rescued Sunday evening by Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers. Policemen Jack Brehm and John Dreyer, who were on routine patrol aboard Marine Bravo, saw the trio in an 8-foot raft on the Long Island Sound around 6 p.m. The raft was roughly 1.5 miles northwest of Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park. The men had launched the raft from Sunken Meadow State Park and had been rowing against southwest winds and currents for two hours while being pushed farther away from shore. The men had no cell phones or any means of signaling for help. The raft was in jeopardy of being swamped by waves, police said. Brehm and Dreyer took the three men aboard Marine Bravo and returned ashore. The men, 30, 30 and 24-years-old, all from Brentwood, were not injured.
