Join us for a screening of the mini-documentary Black in the Newsroom, followed by an interactive discussion of race, media and our future. There is a media landscape in 2070 where equity, liberation, and freedom are real. To get there, we’ll have to leave toxic newsrooms behind. Join us for a viewing and discussion of “Black in the Newsroom,” a short documentary film in which journalist Elizabeth Montgomery’s story illustrates the realities of structural media harm. At this private screening event, you'll have the chance to: Watch the film Hear from Elizabeth and other community members on their experiences and dreams for the futureSpark and strengthen relationships with community-minded greater Phoenix residents, journalists, artists, organizers and beyondWhat would life in Phoenix be like if newsrooms intentionally cared for Black journalists – and Black communities? Let's explore and dream. "Black in the Newsroom" film is presented by Media 2070: The Media Reparations Project, in partnership with InSite Consulting Group, Mass Liberation Arizona and Black River Life Media.
