Here are the top three stories today in Dunedin: On Apr. 19, the Dunedin City Commission unanimously approved a decision to purchase Jerry Lake, an 80.4-acre property near the city's recently-acquired Douglas Preserve. Earlier this week, the Jerry Lake purchase agreement went before the Southwest Florida Water Management District, and officials say they expect to close on the $495,000 deal within the next 90 days, contingent upon the seller, Swiftmud, approving the sale to Dunedin. Funds for the purchase of the Jerry Lake property will reportedly be transferred from the city's parkland impact fee fund. (The Suncoast News)A self-driving vehicle is back on the streets of Dunedin after it was involved in a pedestrian crash with a 79-year-old woman last June. "AVA," the city's driverless shuttle, went on its first route on Thursday, Apr. 28, on Douglas Avenue between Main Street and the Dunedin Public Library. "We are excited for AVA to return to Dunedin with enhanced safety features and newer technology," PSTA Chief Executive Officer Brad Miller said. Dunedin/Palm Harbor natives Dana Serrabella and Jessica Nash opened their shop at 2606 Bayshore Blvd. on Feb 9, but "never got a chance to throw a party."
