Maryland Man Charged In 2 Georgetown Sexual Assaults: Police

GEORGETOWN, DC — Detectives from the Sexual Assault Unit of the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a Maryland man Monday in connection with two 2014 sexual assault offenses at a Georgetown residence, according to a police release. The suspect first entered the victim's residence in the 3300 block of Prospect Street, N.W., around 5:45 a.m., on July 27, 2014. He assaulted the victim with the intent to commit sexual assault, before fleeing the scene. Around 6 a.m., on Oct. 19, 2014, the same suspect returned to the victim's residence, sexually assaulted the victim, and then fled the scene, according to police. Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant on Monday, MPD officers arrested Eric Vance Cabling, 36, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and charged him with two counts of burglary one, first-degree sexual abuse, and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse.
