SUDBURY, MA — Another annual event canceled due to coronavirus: the welcoming of incoming students to Ephraim Curtis Middle School. Each June, incoming middle schoolers attend a "Step Up" day, where they tour the school and meet teachers and staff. The district can't hold that event safely this year due to the pandemic, so they found a workaround. Superintendent Brad Crozier, Principal Jeff Mela, and school staff put together a video for the students to give them a virtual introduction to the impending school year. "We are looking forward to having the incoming sixth graders join the Curtis Middle School community," Mela said in a news release. "Though we weren't able to host this event in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope that these resources will help families prepare for the transition and make them feel welcomed." The school district will also hold a question-and-answer session for students and parents on July 15. About 284 students will enter Ephraim Curtis this fall. You can watch the virtual welcome video here.
