HARLEM, NY — An early-morning fire in a Harlem apartment building injured five civilians and sent a firefighter to the hospital, according to the FDNY.
Flames broke out just before 1 a.m. on the ninth floor of 3569 Broadway, a 10-story building on the corner of West 146th Street, according to an FDNY spokesperson
Nearly 80 firefighters responded to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control in about 40 minutes, the FDNY said.
The five civilians were all treated at the scene and declined to be hospitalized, while one injured firefighter was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, the FDNY said.
Authorities have not said what may have caused the fire.
