Description

GRESHAM, OR — Multnomah County wants to get people off the streets and get them out of shelters with a new program, Move in Multnomah. The county's Joint Office of Homeless Services runs the program, which pairs landlords or people with a spare apartment or room with people who need a place to stay. Landlords who sign up by June 30 will get the following incentives, according to the county. Guaranteed rent payments for up to one year.Payments to cover rent until a tenant is found.Payments to cover damage beyond the security deposit.Access to a hotline where a landlord can seek help from tenant case managers. The county said that it expected the program to help thousands of people get into their own homes. If a landlord is interested — and by landlord, the county said that it meant anyone with a house, an apartment or even a room to rent — all she has to do is fill out an application. Someone from the county will reach out in three to five business days.
