Looking for a tame parakeet

I currently have a young, possibly a male budgie that I would like to get a friend for. I do spend a lot of time with him and have worked on getting him to eat out of my hand and spend some time out of his cage. I will be returning to full time hours soon and would hate for him to be alone all day. If anyone knows somewhere I could look into budgie breeders around or breeds their own, I would love to know more. Also, maybe you could help determine if my little one is a male or female so I know what gender to get in the future. I was looking to keep it the same to avoid breeding.
