Press release from the City of Huntsville Parks & Recreation Department: April 28, 2022 Tune-up your bicycles, pump up the tires, and make plans to attend the Mayor's Bike Ride on Saturday, May 7 at 11 a.m. in Downtown Huntsville. Mayor Tommy Battle invites young and old alike to join him for his annual family-friendly, four-mile bike spin around the downtown area's historic neighborhoods. The ride begins and ends at Church Street in Big Spring Park, in front of the YMCA building. Part of the Healthy Huntsville program, which promotes fitness and nutrition, the annual Mayor's Bike Ride also coincides with Bike Safety Month when the City celebrates its commitment to continuously improving conditions for all cyclists. It also aligns with Huntsville Preservation Month, and cyclists will enjoy a leisurely ride through the City's most historic streets. Registration for the ride begins at 10:30 a.m. Vendors will be at the event to help prep bikes for the ride, as well as highlight different types of bikes that cyclists might enjoy. If you don't have a bike, a limited number of Huntsville Blue Bikes will be available free of charge during the Mayor's Ride.
