Press release from the City of Huntsville Parks & Recreation Department: April 28, 2022 The annual Fitness in the Park program is back for 2022 with new workouts, new energy, and new faces but the same goal – helping everyone discover the fun side of fitness. Mayor Tommy Battle, in collaboration with the City's Parks and Recreation Department and his Healthy Huntsville initiative, is proud to offer these free one-hour group fitness classes, at 9 a.m. each Saturday in May and June. "Great instructors, a beautiful outdoor setting, and the energy and companionship of others combine to make Fitness in the Park a fun, invigorating, and first-rate investment in your physical and mental health, all for only one hour of your time," said Kevin Ready, Healthy Huntsville Coordinator. Classes, led by expert instructors, feature a variety of styles and can be modified to the participant's comfort level. Returning instructor Karissa Spears of Kurvy Fitness, says she wants people to know working out doesn't have to be a chore. Except for Zumba on May 28, which is suitable for ages 12+, all other classes are designed for participants ages 16 and up. Any minors should be accompanied by an adult. The classes will take place in Big Spring Park East. In the event of rain, they will be held under the portico behind Huntsville Utilities. 2022 Fitness in the Park Schedule No special equipment is needed. Just bring a towel or mat and plenty of water!
