Press release from the Stoughton Public Schools: November 17, 2020 If your child is sick, please do not send them to school. Call the school to report the illness and the School Nurse will follow up with you with further instructions. The following symptoms require follow up: Fever (100 F or higher) or chills Cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough) Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath New loss of taste or smell Sore throat Headache, when in combination with other symptoms Muscle aches or body aches (not due to other known cause such as exercise) Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies), when in combination with other symptoms If your child is referred to COVID-19 testing by their Primary Care Provider, please ensure they undergo PCR testing only. We cannot accept the rapid/antigen test results. If your child is tested for COVID-19, you must let your School Nurse know. Children may not physically return to school with a pending test. You must review your child's case with the School Nurse before they can be cleared to return to school. If your child is a close contact to someone who is positive for COVID-19, they must quarantine for 14 days. It is recommended that they get tested but a negative test result will not change the 14-day quarantine period. Students who attend large gatherings may be asked to quarantine You must let your School Nurse know if your child has traveled outside of Massachusetts. We must comply with the state's Travel Order that pertains to both high risk states and international travel. If you go to a high risk state or abroad, upon return to MA, you will have to quarantine for 14 days OR produce a negative PCR COVID-19 test result (not a rapid/antigen test).
