STOUGHTON, MA — A Brockton woman was arrested in connection to last week's hit-and-run crash that killed a Quincy man.
Shandi Cardoza, 31, was charged with leaving the scene of a collision causing a death, motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, leaving the scene of a collision causing property damage and tampering with evidence.
On Sept. 27, Aquilino Sol Lopez, 23, was riding his scooter home from work at the interchange of Route 139 and Route 24 when he was struck from behind and killed. Police said the driver, later identified as Cardoza, left the scene of the crash before officers arrived.
"Greater detail will likely come out at arraignment late this morning or early this afternoon, but Stoughton Police did some very impressive detective work to piece this investigation together," District Attorney Michael Morrissey said. "Ms. Cardoza enjoys the presumption of innocence, and today's arraignment is just the start of this process, but Stoughton Police deserve credit for a lot of hard work for developing probable cause to bring these charges."
Cardoza is expected to be arraigned sometime Friday.
