STOUGHTON, MA — A Hyde Park man was arrested Sunday after Stoughton police said they caught him with a stolen gun out of Manchester, New Hampshire. King Belin, 35, was charged with carrying a loaded firearm, possession of ammunition, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without an FID, subsequent offense, possession of a large capacity feeding device, firearm violation with three prior violent/drug crimes, possession of a large capacity firearm, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, operating after suspension subsequent offense and failure to yield at an intersection. Around 6:15 p.m., a Stoughton officer saw a gray BMW pull out of Brook Street onto Canton Street, and police said the driver, Belin, nearly struck an oncoming vehicle that had the right of way. Police pulled over Belin and said they discovered his license was suspended. "Because of movements made by Belin coupled with observations made by the officer, Belin was pat frisked," Lt. John Bonney said in a statement. Police said when searching Belin, the officer felt a gun. He called for backup, telling another officer he felt a gun, causing Belin to resist, police said. The struggle between Belin and the officer continued until another officer used a stun gun to subdue Belin, police said. Police were able to place Belin into custody and said they discovered the gun was stolen out of Manchester. "This was a remarkable job by both officers," Bonney said. "This was an extremely dangerous encounter and the fact that all three people involved were uninjured highlights the professionalism and the dedication of our officers even in the face of extreme danger."
