STOUGHTON, MA — Two years ago, Animal Control Officer Joshua Heal wrangled in a boa constrictor someone found under the hood of their car. A year later, Heal was caring for a couple lizards found on the side of the road. In his five years at the head of Stoughton Animal Control, Heal handled the routine calls and the odd ones. And Stoughton police took the time to thank him for his work, since Heal has left to become and Abington police officer. "For the last 5 years ACO Heal has performed at a tremendously high level of professionalism," police said in a statement. "From wrangling horrifyingly frightening snakes found under a hood of a car to caring for lizards that were abandoned on the side of the road and all adorable animals in between. He would routinely come in from home to care for animals in the shelter or deal with animal that our police officers weren't capable of handling." Police also said Heal's willingness to volunteer in the community will also be missed. "If you ever attended one of our haunted house events at our station there is a good chance ACO Heal scared the daylights out of you," police said on Facebook. "And who could forget his skills on the ice in our charity hockey games?" We'd like to congratulate Abington PD on landing such a terrific candidate. Best of luck Josh, stay safe out there."
