This position will work closely under the direction of the Masonry Foreman and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced Civil Construction environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Performance all work with strict adherence to safety regulations and company policies. • Examines concrete forms to ensure they are properly constructed and can hold the correct amount of cement to complete a job. • Knows how to accurately set forms for sidewalks, steps, curbs, and walls. • Knowledgeable in how to use power tools. • Levels, smooths, and spreads concrete using a variety of tools, including shovels, floats, rakes, power or hand trowels, and power or hand screeds. • Monitors how heat, cold, and wind affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire building process. • Sets forms designed to hold concrete to desired depth and pitch while aligning them. • Acts as an active participant and collaborator with the crew during daily meetings to ensure safety, quality, and productivity goals are set. • Direct other cement masons and truck drivers to ensure that concrete is poured and smoothed correctly to prevent future problems with the build. • Molds expansion edges and joints using jointers and straightedge as well as edging tools. • Compacts concrete with power vibrator and process a rough concrete surface using a broom. • Directs other masons and employees to guarantee that concrete is poured and smoothed correctly to prevent future problems with the build. • Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • High school diploma or GED required. • Journeyman level knowledge on mixing, pouring, finishing and selecting concrete required. • 1-5 years of previous experience as a cement mason preferred. LICENSE: • Must have a valid, unexpired driver’s license. • Must have a clean driving record.
