Description
5ish year old GSD/Lab/Carolina Dog named Connie. Large, approximately 65-75 pounds. Good with kids, people. Calm non-skittish cats ok with slow intro. Prefers male dogs. Low energy. Professionally trained. Connie was dumped at a training facility in Battle Ground in a case of domestic violence. There she was professionally trained with an e-collar and prong. She lived in a kennel nearly 24/7. I took her with me when I stopped working at the facility. I already have a dog of my own and I can’t afford to care for her long term. I’d like for her to find a home with lots of treats and blankets and someone to spoil her. Connie is very low energy and likes to lay around on the couch. She knows all her basic obedience (sit, stay, down, shake, place, kiss). She knows not to jump on people, is kennel trained, eats all her food enthusiastically, and walks well on leash with a consistent handler. (If you are lazy or soft with her she will take advantage of you as she can be stubborn when comfortable.) She is incredibly food motivated and very easy to train without needing an e collar or corrective tool. She loves plush toys and playing with a ball. Connie rides well in the car and loves the window down. She is potty trained. She is great during baths and vet trips, whines a little during nail trims but is still easy to do. She is instantly best friends with anyone who gives her a treat. She is not a dog park or daycare dog. She is fixed and doesnt have vet papers. Connie loves food and although she won’t jump up or be rude about begging, she will get as close as possible and stare and whine at you if you let her. She will go lay down if you tell her to. She shares her toys well but because she is food driven I have been kenneling her during meal times so she doesn’t steal the other dogs food. Connie will eat anything edible left around the house if alone/unwatched- unwrapped food on tables or desks are at risk of being knocked over and ravished if she is alone in the house. Because she is low energy she is not the ideal hike partner/high activity adventure partner. She’s more of a lounge in the sun kind of gal. Connie eats poop: never her own, but if you have other dogs she might try. I have been giving the pups anti poop eating tablets and she hasn’t tried to eat any for the last few months, so i would say they’ve been working well. Shes currently been eating Fat Dog dog food but because she’s successfully lost weight and is no longer obese, she can start a new diet on whatever food you want. Normal food portions should be 1-1.5c 2xd. Available on weekends to meet at Laurelhurst Park if you are serious about adopting. All dogs, kids, and house members must be present for the meeting. Again, she is not a daycare or dog park dog. While she is ok with other dogs, she just doesn’t enjoy large group play settings and gets cranky in them. Daycares are horrible places to send a dog to (take it from someone in the animal industry). If you own a home I need proof you own the home. If you rent I need proof having a dog is ok and if there is a pet rent that you paid it. She can come with a regular collar, martingale collar, black leash, hedgehog plushie, fluffy blanket, large kennel. There is a rehoming fee of $200 to ensure she’s not going to poor home or broke college student. Connie needs a stable environment with a financially secure owner to love and spoil her.
