Description
From the City of Wilmington:
October 1, 2020
Wilmington's Department of Public Works will once again offer a Citywide leaf collection program beginning in a few weeks. Wilmington's annual Leaf Collection Program starts on Monday, October 19 and will continue through Thursday, December 31. City sweeper or vacuum trucks will collect leaves from the street in designated areas. Residents must sweep all leaves into the street, next to the curb, for collection.
The collection schedule is attached as part of this news release, or you can access the schedule using this link: www.WilmingtonDE.gov/leafcollection.
Public Works Commissioner Kelly A. Williams said because not all city streets can accommodate the City's leaf vacuum vehicles, residents in those areas should place their leaves into brown paper bags and place the bags at the curb next to their recycling bin. The bags will be picked up on the regular recycling bin collection day.
Residents who use a private contractor for leaf removal are asked to coordinate leaf removal in accordance with the City schedule and have the contractor bag the leaves in brown paper bags and place the bags at the curb next to your recycling bin on your recycling day.
For more information about the City's Leaf Collection Program, contact the Public Works Department by dialing 311, which is the new customer service telephone line for all City services and programs. You can also access Wilmington 311 online at www.WilmingtonDE.gov/311.
