From the City of Wilmington: November 7, 2020 A proud City celebrates a history-making election for Delaware and the nation Mayor Mike Purzycki today joined with thousands of Wilmingtonians, Delawareans, and millions of other Americans around the nation to celebrate the election of Delaware's own Joe Biden as President of the United States and Kamala Harris as Vice President of the United States. The Mayor issued the following statement noting the historic nature of this election and welcoming the new leadership and direction that our country so desperately needs. "The eyes of the world are on President-elect Joe Biden and Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris as history is made in Wilmington, Delaware this day. It is fitting, therefore, that on this momentous occasion, Joe, and now Kamala, are surrounded by the people of our City and State who have proudly nurtured and supported Joe's half-century of public service. Joe Biden now gets ready to assume the pinnacle of political leadership, and there is no one better prepared or more capable of taking on the awesome responsibility that comes with the office of President of the United States. In Delaware, just about everyone knows Joe, trusts him, and understands that he can unite our country and lead us through the difficult days ahead. Much of the country and the world also know Joe from his many years on the national and international stage.
