We are hosting our champoionship finals for the 2022 bouldering season! This will be an onsight format competition for youth 18 and under. Competition InformationAll abilities welcome, 18 and under. No USA Climbing members are allowed. If you are unfamiliar with bouldering, or have other questions please reference our season guide or talk to your athletes coach. - Registration will close on 5/11 at midnight. ***Athletes MUST sign up by 5/4 at midnight in order to receive a competitor shirt! - To qualify to attend the Championship, you must have attended one or more of the qualifying events from the season. - Competitors who have attended two or more qualifiers will receive priority booking and will be able to purchase their tickets further in advance. - Awards to follow finals for ALL athletes! This will also be the announcement of the Championship Team! - The raffle will be open to all climbers from both finals and the morning sessions, and will take place during the block party (after the second session)! Needs: Session 1 - 15 Judges Session 2 - 15 Judges During and after Session 2 - 5 Scorers Finals - 10 judges, 2 iso monitors Sign Up Here! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4EA9A92FA2F4C25-jcca4 Competition Format Qualifiers - Modified redpoint format and competitors will have 6 boulder problems. Competitors will have 8 attempts per boulder. - Climbers will have 2.5 hours to climb the boulders in their category (this 2.5 hour slot includes warm up time, as there will be no additional climbing time prior to the start of each session) judges will be stationed on the floor; competitors will have a physical scorecard. Your bouldering score is calculated by the following: 1. Tops 2. Zones 3. Attempts to tops 4. Attempts to zones Finals We will take six athletes to the finals from each category and gender, they will be notified via slack and email following the second qualifying session. Finalists will be announced by 3:00 pm. Finals will be onsight format and competitors will have 2 boulder problems. Competitors will have 4 minutes to climb per boulder, and 4 minutes of rest between each boulder. Competitors will also have a one-minute transition time. Competitors will receive a route preview as well. For finals, once you arrive at the gym you will be put in isolation, phones are not allowed into ISO. CategoriesCompetitors will be broken up by age and by birth year for placement and will compete in sessions divided by gender. The age category breakdown is as follows by birth year: - Category 1: Born in 2014 or later (youngest) - Category 2: Born in 2012-2013 - Category 3: Born in 2009-2011 - Category 4: Born in 2006-2008 - Category 5: Born in 2004-2005 (oldest) ScheduleSchedule Session 1 Check-in Opens: 7:15am Rules Meeting: 7:50 am Climbing Begins: 8:00 am Climbing Ends: 10:30 am Session 2 Check-in Opens: 10:15 Rules Meeting: 10:50 am Climbing Begins: 11:00 am Climbing Ends: 1:30 pm *All athletes must leave the building after session two, finalists will not be allowed back into the gym until ISO opens. Block Party Raffle, Vendors, Fair-style games, Concessions: 1pm - 4pm Vendors include fun snacks, treats, and must-have climbing accessories made by local small businesses!
