Warren Harvey lives by the mantra “I Am That I Am.” He still resides proudly in Kansas City, Missouri Inspired by her grade school art teacher Mrs. Brown art discipline, Mariah Katherine continues the fine arts of black women history through canvas paintings, mixed media, and graphic design. The human body or natural canvases are the chosen surface, created to stretch this availing Black art awareness into the 21st Century. Taking a sacred geometry approach to applying each Afro futuristic design, each idea is divinely birthed onto canvases and scaled by spirit to highlight their African art forms, resulting in a contemporary take on the much loved, and often nostalgic, combination of modern and classic Black art influences. Mariah Katherine now works from her studio on the Northeast District of Kansas City, Missouri, USA. Having previously gained support from the UMKC Women’s Center (Missouri) through their uplifting “Her Art” Project (2016), she has since gone on to be awarded: Best ‘Printing and Marketing Supervisor’ at Staples, Inc. (2018), nominated ‘Best Visual Artist’ of Kansas City at the Kansas City People’s Choice Award (2020); artwork exhibited for ‘Holiday RAWk’ art showcase (2018), and ‘Who Does She Think She Is’ art exhibition(2020). Mariah graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2016 with a degree in BA (Studio Art) with emphasis in Graphic Design and Black Studies. She is a proud member of The University of Missouri-Kansas City Black Alumni Alliance (BAA). With a relentless desire to advance her professional skills, Mariah is currently taking courses at UMKC’S Missouri Small Business Development. She combines her love for creating art with education and explains, “For anything to exist it must first be created; let your positive thoughts abundantly manifest.” Afro Puffs Paintings! As a self-taught artis, I’ve always been artistically inspired by others as well as allowing my inner expressions to be displayed outwardly through my art. It brings joy to my heart to see the smiles on other people‘s faces. As well as the excitement when they see what I’ve created, by taking their thoughts and putting them on canvas. This is a business that I hope will grow to one day help and inspire others in so many ways. Watch Mr. Lynell Diggs make magic right before your eyes.
