STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford High School baseball team broke its four-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over crosstown rival Bunnell in a South-West Conference game Wednesday afternoon at Bunnell High School. Stratford senior Brady Knorr turned in a dominant performance on a cold and blustery day. He finished with a complete-game shutout, allowing only two hits while striking out nine and walking one. Knorr helped his own cause at the plate with two hits and scored Stratford's lone run on junior Jake Kszywanos' RBI groundout in the second inning. Senior J.J. Romatzick mixed in a hit, a hit by pitch, and saved a run defensively on a heads-up backup of third base on an errant throw. Senior Aidan Ormsbee beat out a bunt to add to Stratford's four hits on the day. Bunnell starting pitcher Rohan Terrell was also dominant on the mound, allowing only one run on four hits in seven innings. Bunnell catcher Luke Dawson tripled in the fourth and Terrell singled in the sixth for Bunnell's two hits. Joel Barlow 3, Stratford 2: In an SWC game Monday at Penders Field, junior Joe Booska got the start for Stratford and pitched all seven innings. He escaped a big jam in the first inning, allowing only one run. Barlow scored two more later in the game when an infield error was followed by a long home run. Stratford's offense was limited to only two runs late when senior Ron Kerkes came around and scored on a hit by senior J.J. Romatzick and then an outfield overrun error. Next up, junior Ben Petrie stroked an opposite field line drive double with two strikes to score Romatzick. Kerkes and Romatzick finished the game with two hits apiece.
