Press release from the Dancho For State Representative campaign: April 29, 2022 Stratford Town Councilwoman Laura Dancho (R-10) announced that she is a candidate for State Representative in the 120th District and will be seeking the Republican nomination at the party's convention in May. "Over the last four years, I have had the privilege of being part of Mayor Laura Hoydick's team. Together with a dedicated and talented group of Council members, we delivered on our promise to maintain the quality of life for all our citizens during the unprecedented pandemic while cutting taxes five consecutive times. It is time to take this approach of developing bipartisan and common-sense solutions to the next level and foster positive change for Connecticut families as we confront an uncertain economy and rising inflation, taxes, and crime," Dancho said. Laura Dancho was first elected to the Stratford Town Council in 2017 by unseating an incumbent Council member. She was re-elected in 2019 and 2021 – both times with over 61% of the vote in a district that has elected both Republicans and Democrats over the years. Dancho is a lifelong Stratford resident and has been active in the community throughout her life serving as the PTA Treasurer of Stratford Academy, a band parent at Bunnell High School, a member of the Friends of Boothe Memorial Park and Housatonic Boat Club, a Scout Leader, and a member of Our Lady of Grace Church. She is employed by Fairfield University. Laura and her husband of 42 years Gregg Dancho have three children and four grandchildren. "My work as chair of both the Ordinance and Board of Education Liaison committees, among others, has well prepared me for the next level of serving Stratford residents. I talk to people every day and listen as they share how their families are affected by rising taxes and the loss of control over everything from education to local zoning. These issues affect my family and my neighborhood, too. As State Representative, I believe we can do better and I will ensure that all Stratford's voices are heard over those of activists and extreme legislators from other parts of the state," Dancho continued. "Connecticut endured much in the last two years, and we are ready for renewal and change. I am looking forward to meeting the voters of the 120th District over the coming months, to listen to their concerns and then be that agent for renewal and change for Stratford, for Connecticut, for everyone." Dancho concluded. This press release was produced by the Dancho For State Representative campaign. The views expressed here are the author's own.
