Description
GREENWICH, CT — Three New York City men are facing a series of charges after police said they stole mail from mailboxes in Greenwich.
Gabriel George, 26; Jonathan Rivera, 31; and Christopher Fermaint, 25, were charged with third-degree criminal trespassing, sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy, police said.
Fermaint was also charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating without a license and failure to have insurance.
The men were each given $10,000 bonds, which they were unable to post.
According to police, on April 26 around 3 a.m., officers were dispatched to Lake Avenue on a report of a suspicious car described as a gray mini van with unknown plates driving up and down driveways and stopping at mailboxes.
Officers stopped the van, which was driven by Fermaint, on Lake Avenue, according to arrest reports.
Police said mail and packages addressed to homes on Lake Avenue were seen in plain view within the van. George acknowledged they were in the area to go through mailboxes and steal mail, his arrest report said.
The person who reported the suspicious activity told police they also saw the van enter Deer Park, which is a private neighborhood, police said.
All three men are scheduled to appear in court in Stamford on May 11.
