Description
LONG BEACH, NY — The annual spring hydrant flushing starts on Friday in Long Beach. It is expected to continue each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. until May 13.
The flushing is done twice a year to remove sediments from the system and keep the water pressure running properly.
During the flushing, there may be water discoloration or some low pressure.
Additionally, chlorine residuals will be raised in order to have safe water quality. It poses no threat, the water department said.
The approximate location of each night's flushing will be listed on the city's website and on social media.
