Press release from the City of Arvada: April 26, 2022 Arvada City Manager Mark Deven was recently honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by the Colorado City and County Management Association (CCCMA). Deven received the award based on his many achievements during his 41 + years in local government, which include serving as the assistant city manager of Concord, Calif., the city manager of Woodland, Calif., and since 2011, as the city manager in Arvada, Colo. In addition to his work in local government, Deven has been active in county and regional organizations. He served as the president of the Metro City/County Management Association for the Denver Metro Area; the Colorado Municipal League's Live Well Colorado Task Force; and on the CCCMA board, including as board president. Deven is a member of the Colorado City/County Managers Association, the Colorado Municipal League, the International City/County Management Association, and the Alliance for Innovation. Mr. Deven has also been a long-time board member of Jefferson and Adams counties' Ralston House Child Advocacy Center. Kathy Hodgson, the City Manager of Lakewood, Colo. presented the award at the CCCMA annual conference. Arvada Councilmembers and other City leaders, along with his wife, Shelley, were in attendance. The City team is grateful for Mr. Deven's dedication to the organization and community and concur that the Lifetime Achievement Award is well-deserved. Earlier this year, Mr. Deven announced he is retiring effective October 2022. In the next several days, the Arvada City Council, working with the City's Human Resources team, will begin the recruitment and selection process for Arvada's next city manager.
