Description
ISLIP, NY - Five people were hospitalized after a pickup truck rear-ended a state DOT truck, causing a fire, on the Southern State Parkway on Thursday afternoon, according to State Police.
Police confirmed the crash occurred on the parkway westbound east of exit 39 at 1 p.m.
Four people in DOT truck and driver only in the pickup, all were taken to local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.
The pickup truck rear ended the DOT truck and a fire ensued. The West Islip Fire Department responded to battle the blaze.
The crash is still under investigation.
