Carteret Man Convicted In Christmas Eve 2020 Shooting

CARTERET, NJ — On Thursday, a Carteret man was convicted of attempted murder and other charges after shooting someone in a public housing complex on Christmas Eve two years ago. The public housing complex is Hermann Gardens in Carteret. At 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 24, 2020, Carteret Police responded there for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and ultimately survived. Elijah Ford, 20, of Carteret, was charged with the shooting. Ford was subsequently indicted for first-degree attempted murder and illegal weapons charges. A Middlesex County jury reached the attempted murder conviction this week after a five-day trial. He will be sentenced on September 6. Get more local news delivered straight to your inbox.
