Description

SOMERVILLE, MA — Somerville has seen a rash of coyote sightings across all neighborhoods in recent weeks, Animal Control said. The most recent sighting was Saturday night in the Sycamore Street area. "We would like to remind our residents to stay vigilant while walking/letting your dogs out and keep cats indoors when possible," Animal Control said in a statement. Residents are asked to contact the police department if they find a coyote that appears sick or injured. Coyotes are medium-sized predators and opportunistic feeders, meaning they eat whatever is naturally available. This can include animals, birds, insects and fruits, as well as artificial sources like garbage, pet food, birdseed and compost.
