Here are the top three stories today in New Orleans: More information on the death of a 3-year-old girl who was shot earlier this week. An investigation revealed that the victim found her 18-year-old brother's gun in the bathroom of their home while the brother was in the bedroom. (WWLTV.com) Louisiana is the No. 1 oyster producer in the country, but few of the shells make it back to our reefs, which are an important part of the ecosystem. The Coalition to Restore Costal Louisiana has begun a program where restaurants and public drop off spots where discarded oyster shells are used to build new reefs and protect the coast. The public drop off spots are at Half Full on Mondays from 9-5 and at The Green Project on Saturdays from 11-5. (WDSU New Orleans) Jefferson Parish residents are asking the Jefferson Parish School Board for more Black and Hispanic election districts. The current school board, which seats 9 members, is two-thirds white while the district it oversees is only one-third white.
