The campaign is meant to encourage new riders in the public transit system. The free ride campaign is the first time that CARTA has ever offered free rides. CARTA OnDemand rides will not be free since they are contracted separately. (Charleston Post Courier)As of Thursday afternoon, a portion of Bees Ferry Road is closed due to a downed powerline. A tractor-trailer snagged the low-hanging power line near the Charleston County Landfill. The Charleston County Sherriff's Office has closed the roadway while Dominion Energy restores power to those experiencing an outage. (WCBD News 2)The North Charleston Community Resource Center will be giving away groceries, baby supplies, and hygiene products on Saturday. The giveaway will be at 3947 Whipper Barony Lane beginning at noon. Over $50,000 worth of goods will be distributed to those in need.
