COVENTRY, RI — Coventry police will take part in Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday. "Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands," COventry police said in a statement on Facebook. "This can be dangerous and often tragic. That's why it was great to see thousands of folks from across the country clean out their medicine cabinets last year and turn in - safely and anonymously - a record amount of prescription drugs. Now, let's do it again!" Unwanted prescription drugs may be dropped off at the police station onfrom 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. At last year's event, the DEA collected a large amount of expired, unwanted, and unused prescription medications, with the nation's public turning in close to 500 tons of unwanted drugs. Drug Take Back Day is a partnership between the Coventry Police Department, the DEA, Gosnold and the Prevention Partnership.
