NAPERVILLE, IL — Inbound and outbound trains were halted Friday morning in Naperville after a pedestrian was struck by a train, according to Metra. According to WGN, the pedestrian was killed, but their identity has not been released.
Metra was warning riders to expect extensive delays after the incident, reported around 6:30 a.m.
Service was halted between Aurora and Naperville, and passengers were urged to board trains at Lisle.
Another train, scheduled to arrive at Lisle at 7:29 a.m., was also halted at Cicero due to a truck striking a bridge, Metra said. Metra also said one track was open between Lisle and Aurora, and trains in that area were expected to incur longer delays.
As of just before 7:30 a.m., trains were still not stopping at Naperville. Customers were urged to use the Route 59 station in Aurora or Lisle.
