GENEVA, IL — Stretches of Fabyan Parkway and Randall Road in Geneva will be subject to lane closures the week of May 2 as Kane County Division of Transportation resumes its highway pavement marking program that began in 2021, Geneva officials announced. The department identified seven project locations on stretches of road in Geneva, according to a city news release. In order to improve the visibility of lane markings, the work will include installing urethane pavement markings onto 17.7 miles of high-volume highways in Kane County, KDOT engineers said. The county-wide project will result in lane closures spanning from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Officials said lane closures are scheduled to start in the north end of the county, working their way south "until all necessary lane lines have been restriped." The progression could change depending on weather, though, according to a news release. Work is expected to last through the week of June 20, weather permitting. "Please watch for workers, equipment on the roadway and shoulders, and anticipate increased travel times and exercise caution while traveling in freshly painted areas," Matthew Schumacher, project manager, wrote in a KDOT release. A map of the work can be found on KDOT's website.
