SOMERVILLE, MA — The Somerville Arts Council is launching the Home Alone Art Series, art-related performances live-streamed through Facebook. The performances will represent a variety of genres, including music, visual arts, performance, writing, theater, dance and multidisciplinary art forms. The goal of the HAAS is to hire and pay Somerville artists – residents and those who have a studio in the city – who are experiencing financial difficulties due to the coronavirus crisis. Tune in to SAC's Home Alone Art Series on Facebook Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. for the Home Alone Art Series episodes. This is a way to support local artists and bring art into your home. The Arts Council encourages all artists to submit to the HAAS program; there is no deadline and they are accepting submissions on a rolling basis. Upcoming Home Alone Art series performances: Thursday, April 16th: Callie Chapman will be performing a mixed-dance performance live streaming visuals and audio by Catherine Murcek and Christopher KonopkaTuesday, April 21st: Greg Jukes will be sharing personal connections and educational narratives of his instruments and musicThursday, April 23rd: Janaka Sturky will be doing two segment performances based on his new book, Ascend, Ascend.Tuesday, April 28: Charlotte Dore will be performing, as one of her characters, and will teach parents on how to create their own puppetry show with home made materials.Thursday, April 30th: Chris Freedman, performance of his own music and will talk about the making of his new album and the use of different instruments.Open Call See our website (www.somervilleartscouncil.org/homealone) for details on how to apply.
