Somerville Man Arrested During Protest At Gov. Baker's House

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — A Somerville man was among a group of protesters arrested at Gov. Charlie Baker's Swampscott home Thursday morning. Sean Donaghy, 28, faces charges of disorderly conduct and trespassing, State Police said. The protesters were from a group called "Jews Against Fascism." They shouted with bullhorns outside the home and were arrested around 7:30 a.m. when they refused to comply with orders not to cross on to private property, police said. "Troopers repeatedly requested that protesters not trespass onto or block private property," State Police spokesman David Precopio said. "Four (people) refused to comply with the repeated requests and were transported to the State Police — Revere Barracks, where they were booked for disorderly conduct and trespassing." Scott Sternberg, 61, of Salem, Lily Gomberg, 22, of Newton and Joel Greenberg, 30, of Cambridge, were also arrested. Procopio said no further details on the arrests will be released at this time. While protests at the Monument Avenue home are not new, they have become increasingly contentious in recent weeks. A Boston man received a civil stay-away order after he was accused of dropping syringes on the property as part of a protest about "Methadone Mile" in Boston. A Danvers man broke into the Baker home and left a letter for the governor last month, while his wife and daughter were home and State Police had a presence outside. There have also been ongoing protests in Swampscott between Black Lives Matter supporters and pro-Trump supporters. Last week, parents built what they called a "Line of Love" to shuttle elementary school students through what they described as profanity-laced shouting.
