HUNTINGTON, NY—After Edmund Zarou's father Charlie passed away, the Huntington restaurant owner and entrepreneur thought creating a unique light for family members would help commemorate his father. Zarou used a 3D printer to create a night light that would illuminate a favorite photo and made the memorial night light.
Friends took note of the unique idea and started asking for their own custom night lights. Zarou and his cousin Alex Solounias decided to start making the 3d lights on a bigger scale and launched the business, called Night Light 3D, last October.
"Now we have 5 printers and have made nightlights for people all across the country. We have gotten nothing but positive feedback. The amount of joy these night lights bring is incredible," Zarou told Patch.
The cousins are also offering free memorial night lights for a month starting on December 26 in honor of the original inspiration for their products. Anyone who wants to memorialize a lost loved one can order a night light through the website..
"We also ask that after you place the order to please email us with a brief story of your loved one so we can post on out social media. This is our way of keeping their memory alive."
"We are grateful to be in the position to do this and I know my father would want nothing more than for us to honor him this way, giving back."
