GREENLAWN, NY — For the first time since its 1906 inception, there will be no Greenlawn Fire Department Parade and Fair on Labor Day Weekend. The festivities would have began Thursday. The coronavirus pandemic has led to the cancellation of many events and functions throughout 2020. The longest-running fireman's fair in New York state is the latest casualty. "This decision was not made in haste, and we examined all options before finally settling on this tough decision," the fire department stated. "During these times we must protect our community and our members. There is a donation letter going out to the residents of our fire district, and we would greatly appreciate your support and help. Thank you very much, and we will see you in 2021!" Here's a link to the Greenlawn Fire Department donation website. Below are some photos from previous events. Also, let us know in the comments what you'll miss most about the 2020 fair and what your favorite food from previous fairs is.
