Description
We had recently purchased a male Gerberian Shepsky 2 months old from Yelena Kritskiy. She claims to be a breeder of healthy dogs, dad was a German Shepherd and mom supposedly German Shepherd Husky mix. We had originally contacted her here on cl. The puppy seemed overall okay he was a little skinny like he just needed a little more nutrition to fatten him up. Before leaving she did administer a Nobivac DAPPV vaccine for his first puppy shot and we headed home. Within hours this poor dog was acting fatigued and had light vomiting. We figured this was a reaction to the vaccine and decided we would call the vet if anything changed. Fast forward to 2 am in the morning this poor dog developed diarrhea and continued to vomit. I contacted our emergency vet and was advised to take him in right away when my regular vet opened. By 8 am we had rushed him in where they had administered a Parvovirus test and it was positive. At this point he had rapidly declined while we were discussing treatment and his breathing was labored all while he was crying. We made the very tough decision to euthanize at this point but the vet was unable to place an IV on the puppy as his blood pressure was too low. He ultimately expired in my arms at the vets office. When contacted about this not only did Yelena deny that her puppies could all be infected she turned around and blamed us for this outcome. Parvovirus takes 3 to 7 days to incubate and up to 3-14 days to develop symptoms. Meaning one or all of the dogs could be infected. At this point we did contact the local Sheriffs office in her area where a deputy and a veterinarian were able to go out and test the last two puppies she had who in fact were BOTH positive for parvovirus. If you took a puppy from this woman contact your vet NOW! We literally had him home for less then 24 hrs before he passed away, this was absolutely devastating and we don't want any family or puppies to experience this. We were told that it was most likely a combination of the parvovirus that had weekend his immune system and being shocked by a vaccine that ended this pups life so quickly. If you do have a puppy with Parvovirus you will not only need to treat the pup but severely disinfect your home with bleach and/or a disinfectant specifically for parvo. Parvo can live on surfaces for LONG time and even vaccinated dogs can be at risk from a big exposure.
