Mini Pig Fun Facts! 1.)Pigs are the third smartest animal in the world, alongside dolphins and chimpanzees. 2.)Pigs are hypoallergenic as they grow hair, not fur. 3.)Pigs don’t sweat. With no sweat glands, there is no odor, but they also can’t cool themselves. They need to wallow and bathe in water or mud to cool down. 4.)Pigs are naturally very clean animals. They are careful not to pee or poop where they eat and sleep. 5.)Pigs have 4 toes on each foot, but they only walk on two. 6.)An adult pig can run up to 11 miles per hour! 7.)Mother pigs sing to their young while nursing. 8.)Newborn piglets can run to their mother’s voices and know their own name. 9.)Pigs have a fantastic sense of direction and have found their way home over great distances. 10.)Pigs prefer to sleep nose to nose and dream like humans do! 11.)Pigs have 15,000 taste buds. Humans have only 9,000. 12.)Pigs have a tremendous sense of smell, about 2000 times more sensitive than humans, and can detect odors 5-7 miles away and 5-25 ft under the ground! 12.)Pigs have excellent memories and are able to remember things for years. Smaller mini pigs will range from 14-16 inches full grown, but on the taller end of that scale they will be 16-20 inches tall. Weights can vary greatly depending on genetics, diet, environment, and lifestyle (activity). You can expect your mini pig to be anywhere from 50-150 pounds full grown at 5 years of age. Some have reported even smaller mini pigs full grown, but it cannot be expected and not the norm. A 50-75 full grown pig is very small pig. Mini pigs are short and three times more dense than a dog.
