School Shows 'Day In The Life' Of A Post-Coronavirus Day In Video

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — The South Huntington School District created a video to explain to parents how a "day in the life" of a post-coronavirus school day will go. With so many questions about how students will be able to socially distance being raised by many Long Islanders, the district decided to create the video to "show our community what to expect for the upcoming school year." The video shows how social distancing works on school buses—mandatory masks, students sitting on every other seat— and in the classrooms and hallways. Students will have their temperatures checked each morning upon arrival. Floor decals are on the hallway floors to show elementary school students where to stand to maintain six feet of distance from each other. Sneeze guards, personal supplies instead of shared supplies, and lunch at desks instead of communal cafeteria tables are also new changes meant to minimize the spread of COVID-19. "We are extremely happy to see students back in the buildings," said John Murphy, the principal of Walt Whitman High School.
