Lost ashes

This is probably a long shot. My father in-law(also a veteran) lost EVERYTHING including his sons ashes in a storage unit, not being able to pay it around 15 years ago or longer in Tucson. Most likely the unit was auctioned off. I'm not sure if it possible to track down where they could be or to ever find them. If anyone has any information on what to do or has experience in storage unit buying and ever ran into this situation before please let me know. I would love to reunite him with his son. No words would explain how much it would mean to him and me. Also please no harsh comments, You don't understand what situation they were in back then. Thank you in advance and taking the time reading
