HICKSVILLE, NY — A shuttered, walk-in medical center in Hicksville will reopen this weekend to help provide more coronavirus tests in the days following the Thanksgiving holiday. UrgentWay Walk-In Medical Center will reopen Saturday, Town of Oyster Bay officials said. The medical center, on Bethpage Road, near Susan Street, can serve more than 100 people a day and will offer rapid, nasal PCR and antibody testing. All residents who are showing symptoms or who were exposed to someone with the virus are urged to get tested at a site such as UrgentWay. "UrgentWay is a highly respected and successful chain of urgent care clinics with multiple locations across the New York metropolitan area, and we welcome their grand opening as public health officials are predicting we are moving into a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic and are expecting a surge of COVID cases over the coming winter months," Supervisor Joseph Saladino said in a statement. With a second surge in cases, Saladino called it "incredibly important" to continue wearing masks, social distancing, and taking every precaution necessary to protect older adults and those with pre-existing conditions.
