SHARON, MA ā As the temperatures warm up, and folks get back out and about amid the reopening of the state's retail operations over the next few weeks, Sharon police are warning residents about the perils of leaving pets alone in a vehicle during the summer heat.
"As the weather outside get warmer, please don't leave your best friend in the hot car," Sharon police said. "It heats up faster than you think."
A car in 70-degree weather can heat up to 89 degrees inside within 10 minutes and 104 degrees within 30 minutes. A car parked in 80-degree weather can heat up to 99 degrees in 10 minutes and 114 degrees in 30 minutes. A car packed in 90-degree weather can heat up to 109 degrees in 10 minutes and 124 degrees in 30 minutes.
