Description
Pilot viewing of new travel TV show based in Syracuse: “Off the Wall & Up Close” Please join us for a special event featuring a screening of the pilot of a new travel TV show starting right here in Syracuse! It’s called “Off the Wall & Up Close”. The show intends to bring much-needed exposure to local artistic talent, creative small businesses, and hidden treasures in less-traveled, but up-and-coming destinations, like Syracuse. At the start of the event, show creators Laura Thorne and Aldea Gerard will discuss how the idea came about, the filming process, and the goals for the show. Q & A and discussion will be held after the pilot screening. Light refreshments will be provided with a suggested, but not required, donation of $5-$10 at the door. The pilot is being considered in 36+ film festivals and the creators are ready to start fundraising for episode 2! To facilitate that, they are hosting a multi-event screening tour in June 2022 of the pilot in locations around the Central New York area, including this one at ArtRage Gallery. The Off the Wall Events feature different collaborations with local artists and businesses because that is what they are all about. See the website for details about the other events. https://www.heyalecproductions.com/ ABOUT THE FILMMAKERS Aldea Gerard and Laura Thorne, the creators of Hey Alec Productions, LLC. are entrepreneurs and part of the local art scene, who work to drive economic growth through creating a thriving, sustainable Arts community. Gerard, a local mixed-media artist, art curator and podcast host has focused her efforts on bolstering the arts in Syracuse through collaborative works and an appreciation of the local art community. Thorne, a business consultant, photographer, and podcast host, was nominated for a 2020 Economic Champions award for her efforts to promote small businesses and opportunities for artists in Syracuse. She was also a recent artist in Art Rage Gallery’s Struggle to Connect exhibition.
