HICKSVILLE, NY — Hicksville residents are invited to give feedback next month on plans to make traffic and pedestrian safety improvements. Joseph Saladino, supervisor of the Town of Oyster Bay, said his administration is working to revitalize the downtown area into what he called a "vibrant economic center." As such, a public information meeting is planned Monday, Jan. 6, at the Hicksville Community Center on Carl Street. The meeting, scheduled to go from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., will be hosted by Nassau County. Residents will have the opportunity to see a presentation, ask questions and give comments on the proposed changes. Saladino said he wants to use private sector investments, state grants and local infrastructure enhancements as part of the revitalization effort. "Together, we will attract new jobs, create new housing opportunities and improve the accessibility and safety in the downtown area for all modes of transportation, from motorists to pedestrians to transit riders to cyclists," he said in a news release. "I encourage residents to attend this public information meeting hosted by Nassau County as it is an excellent opportunity to share their desired vision for the future of our community." This is the second public information meeting hosted by Nassau County on the plans. Many residents attended the first meeting and gave feedback on the recommendations.
