WESTBOROUGH, MA — A great horned owlet found recently by a dog walker in Westborough is in good health, back in the wild — and has a new friend. The owlet was found on the ground on April 14, and was taken to the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Grafton, according to Westborough Animal Control Officer Melinda MacKendrick. The owlet was then taken to Raptor Tales Rescue in Shrewsbury for further rehabilitation. The Westborough owlet befriend another owlet while under the care of rehabilitators at Raptor Tales Wildlife rehab specialists have not been able to find the owlet's original nest in Westborough. But the Westborough owl and its friend were both placed in a foster nest in the wild over the weekend, according to Jessica Zorge-Perna of Raptor Tales. MacKendrick shared these images on Facebook Thursday. The picture on the right snows the owlet on the day he was found.
