The Wakefield Sons and Daughters of Italy are pleased to announce that their oft-rescheduled charity auction went off smoothly! After months – actually several years - of planning, guests gathered for a night of fun, food and winning. This auction raised a record amount, which was important because it has been three years since out last auction and our scholarship/charity fund was sorely depleted. Our traditional auction featured theme baskets, gift certificates for goods or services, and loads of "mystery" items. Some bidders ended up being surprised by winning wine, coffees, scotch, various kitchenware, a wallet with gift card, a Red Sox t-shirt, lawn dice, a gardening basket with gift card, jewelry, candles, and even a gas card. New this year was the addition of a silent auction. There were 17 items or services available for those who don't enjoy having mystery in their bidding. And for those who were interested in the possibility of winning money, there was a 50/50 raffle. The 50/50 winner left with over $500! We are grateful to so many in the community for their contributions to the event. First there was Harrows Chicken Pies of Reading who provided a much-enjoyed meal for a special price. Laurie's 9:09 coordinated serving the meal and provided sides and beverages. And our talented lodge members baked fresh, homemade treats for dessert. Thanks to St. Joseph's for letting us use their hall and to North Shore Pool and Spa for sharing their parking lot. Then, there were all the businesses who donated goods or services for us to auction off. The Lodge invites you to support the following donors: Calaresso's Farm Stand, Cal's Creamery, DiCara's Deli, Meraki Medical Esthetics, and The Chocolate Truffle of Reading; Laurie's 9:09 Catering, A Balanced Self, The Farmland, Fringe on Main, North Ave Diner, Cheryl Caroll-MaryKay Consultant, HealthyNut, Cravings, Gingerbread Construction Company, Dockside Restaurant, and Mel and Sons of Wakefield; Impress Graphics, Colonial Cadillac, Magic Detailing, and Medispa Caring for All of Woburn; Kennedy's Ice Cream Bar, Beacon Hill Wine & Gourmet, Everlasting Fitness, Mariela's Mexico bags, Tramontozzi Law. and All Things Beauty of Melrose; Pastene Pasta of Canton; J. Pace & Son of Saugus; Dye by Debra Hair Salon and Greater Boston Stage Company of Stoneham; Hanover Theatre in Worcester; Fabrezia of Salem, NH; Danvers Spa & Nail of Danvers; Capone Floral Studio of Middleton; Jill Joyce, Pepperidge Farm Proprietor of Burlington and Dom's Sausage Co. of Malden. We also want to thank our wonderful members for donating their area of expertise, their timeshare, their boat for an ocean cruise, securing Red Sox and New England Revolution tickets, obtaining gift cards from establishments they patron and so much more. They also provided all the mystery auction items, brought their family and friends to the event and bid on so many items. A big shoutout goes to Toni Encarnacao for being a fantastic first-time auctioneer. And to Anthony Guardia for being the assistant auctioneer. Thanks to the dinner servers, the parking attendants, the accountants, the greeters, the bakers and of course all our bidding guests! It took a lot of hands to make this event a success, and we appreciate each and every one. Many more auction photos are posted on the Lodge's Facebook page.
