PARK SLOPE, NY — Novelist Paul Auster's son — who faced manslaughter charges in his infant daughter's drug death — died of an accidental overdose, according to reports. Daniel Auster, 44, was found dead Tuesday with drugs near his body, the New York Post reported. He was out on bail after his recent arrest in the Nov. 1 death of his 10-month-old daughter Ruby, according to the Post. Ruby had ingested enough drugs to "render an adult unconscious" in Auster's Bergen Street home on Nov. 1, NYPD officials and reports said. Prosecutors later charged him with manslaughter after medical examiners seemed Ruby's caused of death to be acute intoxication by the combined effects of fentanyl and heroin, police said. Auster's father Paul Auster is an acclaimed Brooklyn-based writer known for, among other works, the "New York Trilogy." Read the New York Post report here.
